Star Notes Month 2 Update

Hi everyone!

Sam and Nico here, the organizers of the the Zooniverse Star Notes project. We just wanted to take this time to express our immense gratitude. These are very difficult and uncertain times; we hope that all of our volunteers are safe and healthy. Taking care of ourselves and our loved ones are a top priority at this time, so we are thankful for the people who are spending their time with this project and with this community.

To any new volunteers: welcome! We have certainly seen an uptick in our transcriptions during the last few weeks. There has been a significant rise in the number of transcribers and classifications. We have seen the largest number of transcriptions in the last week since the rush of our initial launch! It has been encouraging to hear how people are using Zooniverse at home to encourage science education and community volunteering.

People are continuing to have great conversations over on the Talk boards. Our dedicated volunteers are helping each other by answering questions and making discoveries. We hope that this community provides some support and happiness to our volunteers; if anything, perhaps it will be a good distraction for some. Nico and I are both working from home and taking care of ourselves; we will be happy to continue answering questions or providing support on the Talk Board pages. We are also learning along the way, and we are grateful to learn from our volunteers every day.

Thank you for your curiosity and your dedication. We are glad that the works of Annie Jump Cannon, Henrietta Swan Leavitt, and Williamina Fleming are inspiring so many people. As always, if you have any questions for us, you can message us or find us over on the Talk boards.
