January Star Notes Newsletter

Reseau from Ida Woods notebook (phaedra1184)

Hi everyone,

Sam and Nico here, the Star Notes researchers. Happy New Year! Thank you all for your dedication and hard work during the last year! We really appreciate the wonderful community that is associated with this project. We hope you’re all having a nice holiday season. You can view some holiday-related images here or on our Twitter page

We have considered your feedback about the progress bar on the main page of our project. We appreciate your suggestions, and therefore are planning on changing the way that we upload pages to the project. Instead of having multiple astronomers to choose from, we are planning to limit the project to one astronomer at a time. This way, the progress bar will accurately show how many pages are left for that astronomer.

Our next Office Hours will be held on Tuesday, January 12th at 2pm EST. We’ll be on Zoom for an hour to answer questions or chat. You can stop by anytime during the hour. We’ll briefly be discussing the process of collecting data from our Zooniverse project and the back-end of the Smithsonian Transcription project. We’ll also be showcasing some of the discoveries that volunteers have made by transcribing the notebooks. Register here for the Zoom link!

It’s also the 1-year anniversary of the start of this project! We’re looking to try and commemorate this in some way, so look out for that towards the end of the month. As always, if you have any questions for us, or if there’s anything that we can do to help, you can contact us or find us over on the Talk boards.
